DESCRIPTION:The OPA Rosario Castellanos Seminar—Inaugural Event marks the launch of a new academic and cultural initiative at the University of Texas at Austin’s College of Liberal Arts\, celebrating the life\, work\, and enduring influence of Mexican writer\, diplomat\, and feminist thinker Rosario Castellanos (1925–1974). \nHosted by the Office of Public Affairs and the Department of Spanish and Portuguese\, this seminar serves as the first in an ongoing series dedicated to exploring Latin American literature\, philosophy\, and gender studies. The inaugural event brings together scholars\, writers\, and students to reflect on Castellanos’s literary legacy and her pivotal role in shaping modern feminist and decolonial thought. \nThe program will feature a keynote lecture by a distinguished visiting scholar\, followed by a panel discussion with UT faculty experts in Latin American studies\, literature\, and gender theory.
