Muertos Fest is a San Antonio–based nonprofit cultural event dedicated to celebrating life and honoring loved ones through the vibrant traditions of Día de los Muertos. Founded in 2013, the festival has grown into one of the largest Day of the Dead events in the United States—recognized by National Geographic as one of “America’s Top 7 Fall Festivals.”
Produced by Galaxy Productions, Muertos Fest brings together hundreds of artists, musicians, altaristas, and community groups to transform downtown San Antonio into a multi-day celebration filled with altars, music, dance, and art. The event is free and open to the public, emphasizing accessibility, cultural education, and artistic collaboration.
The organization’s mission is to honor ancestors while celebrating the cultural vitality of the living through art, music, food, and shared remembrance. Each year, Muertos Fest donates space to community groups, schools, and nonprofits to construct altars and participate in processions, creating one of the most moving public art displays in Texas.
