The Brownsville Society for the Performing Arts (BSPA) is a nonprofit cultural organization dedicated to enriching the artistic and musical life of the Rio Grande Valley. Founded in 1986, the BSPA has become a driving force in South Texas for presenting diverse, high-quality performances that celebrate both local and international talent.
The organization’s mission is to cultivate appreciation for the performing arts while promoting Brownsville as a cultural destination. Through concerts, educational outreach programs, and annual festivals, the BSPA engages audiences of all ages and backgrounds in the shared experience of live music, dance, and theatre.
Among its flagship programs is the Brownsville Latin Music Festival, which showcases Latin American music and heritage through performances, workshops, and community activities. The BSPA also presents classical and jazz concerts, youth arts programs, and cross-cultural collaborations that highlight the region’s binational spirit.
In partnership with the City of Brownsville, schools, and other arts organizations, the BSPA works to expand arts education, provide performance opportunities for emerging artists, and strengthen the cultural bridge between the United States and Mexico.
With nearly four decades of community leadership, the Brownsville Society for the Performing Arts continues to champion creativity, cultural diversity, and artistic excellence—bringing the world of performance to the southernmost tip of Texas.
