Garcia Memorial Foundation and daughter of civil rights icon Dr. Hector P. Garcia\, in celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month. The event will take place at Baylor University’s Mark and Paula Hurd Welcome Center and will highlight several Baylor student organizations. \nDr. Héctor P. García was a Mexican-American physician\, World War II veteran\, and civil rights advocate who founded the American G.I. Forum to fight for the rights of Hispanic veterans and marginalized communities. His lifelong dedication to justice earned him national recognition\, including the Presidential Medal of Freedom\, and made him a trusted advisor to U.S. presidents and a symbol of empowerment for Mexican Americans. \nThis in-person event is a wonderful opportunity to honor his legacy and learn more about his impact on our community.
