Muertos Fest Day 2 marks the official opening day of San Antonio’s beloved Día de los Muertos celebration at Hemisfair—a spectacular, day-long experience blending remembrance, music, art, and community.

Starting at 10 a.m., families and visitors can explore more than 80 community altars (ofrendas) honoring loved ones, stroll the Muertos Mercado for original handmade art and gifts, and enjoy live entertainment across five stages. Performances span traditional Mexican folk ensembles, mariachi and conjunto legends, contemporary bands, dance troupes, poets, and DJs—representing the full rhythm and spirit of San Antonio.

The festival also features children’s art workshops, storytelling corners, photo installations, and hands-on cultural activities that bring the symbolism of Día de Muertos to life for all ages. Food and beverage vendors throughout the park offer local favorites and seasonal treats.

As twilight approaches, the event builds toward its emotional centerpiece: the Grand Procession at 7 p.m.—a breathtaking parade of dancers, puppets, floats, and costumed participants weaving through Hemisfair to honor ancestors and celebrate the continuity of life.

Admission is free and open to the public. Guests are encouraged to come dressed in festive attire, bring photos for the public altar, and immerse themselves in this living tribute to culture, memory, and joy.
